Here I am In Situ, in my apartment in Palazzo Antellesi. It's such a charming place, right in the center of exactly where I want to be in Firenze, ideal for taking great walks all over: around the corner for a coffee or a glass of wine, or across the city to visit some magnificent slice of history.
There are plenty of 'characters,' Italian-style, right outside my front door, always something to look at twice.
The local residents are quite earnest, as they cut determined and diagonal paths across the square, and there are always tourists in absolute awe of the eye-popping facade of the church, Santa Croce.  Hundreds of photos are taken, from every angle imaginable, whatever the weather, all day long.
The piazzas of Italy are micro-neighborhoods; each has its own distinctive rise and fall, inhale and exhale as the days begin slowly, come to life, and then go easy and quiet again at night.
