I left Venice this afternoon on the same train
that was one of those disgorging throngs into the city today
for the upcoming finale of Carnivale.
The plaza in front of the Stazione
was full of people where just a couple of days ago
it felt empty.
The vibe was electric, everyone full of anticipation and ready for a good time.
The weather was spectacular, today as it was throughout my own stay.
I was especially happy to have traversed almost the entire city on foot,
save for the very outer reaches of Castello and beyond,
and enjoyed visiting old haunt Gia Schiavi in Dorsoduro,
and finding Cantina Do Mori near the Rialto, for the first time.
